Course Outline

The lecture provides an understanding for ICT industries (Information, Communication and Telecommunication) and their impact on former separated markets of telecommunications, media and IT. A basic understanding of telecommunication technology is a prerequisite to identify and understand dramatic changes in companies' strategies. Resulting market impacts are presented and and future outlook will be discussed within lecture.

The lecture is separated in three major parts:

  • Fundamentals of communication networks (fixed net, mobile networks)
  • Market overview and introduction into market regulation
  • Management strategies and case studies (e.g. IPTV, pricing for mobile phone services)
